River Kaldakvisl

River Kaldakvisl is truly a gem. Words are unequal to the task of describing the landscape’s beauty. Diversity and contrasts are the river’s main characteristics. On the 12 km (16 mile) beat, one can find beautiful waterfalls, great canyons, fast water, slow water, rocks, sand and so much more. The Kaldakvisl is supporting arctic char and brown trout, their size averaging at 3-4 lbs. although fish weighing up to 7 lbs. can be found there.

It’s hard not to fall in love with the Kaldakvisl once you’ve had the chance to get to know her. The Kaldakvisl is fished entirely from the river side or by wading. Most of the lies can be covered with single handed fly rods. River Kaldakvisl is fly fishing only and catch & release. The Kaldakvisl is a river completely self-sustainable and supporting native fish. Approx. 2 hour´s drive from Reykjavik.
