Description
This day tour offers an opportunity for exploring the Icelandic highlands, plus going fishing for arctic char and brown trout. The highlands are totally uninhabited and some of the Europe´s biggest wilderness. The highlands are known for numerous rivers, streams and lakes, inhabited by native brown trout and arctic char. Diversity and contrasts are the main characteristics. The highland environment is about glaciers, deserts of black sand, barren glacial moraine, volcanoes and lava fields, plus strange oases of vegetation. The main fishing season for the highlands is the period of early June until middle of August.
We do have various locations to offer. Such as an area with lakes and remotely located rivers, plus an area with volcanic crater lakes as well as lakes located in a black volcanic desert. The brown trout and the arctic char are of all sizes, but the most common size range is 2lbs up to 4lbs. Larger fish up to 10lbs plus is also possible to catch. The fishing is practiced entirely from the river or lake side or by wading. Most of the lies can be covered easily with single handed fly rods. Spin casting is also allowed. The total tour duration is approx. 15 hours and thereof 8-9 fishing hours by the river or the lake we will visit.
