Fishing Tackle Disinfection
According to official regulations set to protect the wild fresh water fish stocks against infectious disease agents all imported used fishing tackle must be disinfected before entering Iceland. Disinfection must be carried out by a veterinarian from the country of embarkation and a certificate of disinfection presented when transporting the equipment to Iceland. Another and more convenient alternative before entering the country is handing the fishing equipment over to customs officers at arrival for immediate disinfection. The process is carried out by the KEF International Airport staff at owner’s expense. Process usually doesn’t take long (approx. 15 – 20 minutes).
