Lake Hlidarvatn – Arctic Char & Brown Trout

Lake Hlidarvatn is located 60 km south of Reykjavik. The lake has an area of approx. 4 km² and the greatest depth is 5 meters. The lake mostly supports arctic char, but also brown trout.

Fly fishing has been the most successful way for decades, but spinning is also allowed.

The way from Reykjavik is scenic, and including some remarkable stopovers, by hot springs as well as by the rough and barren sea shore.
