River Sog – Salmon & Arctic Char
River Sog is renowned for its good sized salmon & arctic char. The Sog is located in the southern part of Iceland, approximately a one-hour´s drive east of Reykjavík. The Sog is the largest spring fed river of Iceland and originates in Lake Thingvallavatn. Total length is 19km, but 12km are passable for salmon. The river has idyllic surroundings to offer as well as amazing birdlife.
River Sog is fished entirely by wading, and relatively little walking is required for many of the pools are easily accessible by car. The fishing is practiced with either single or double-handed fly rods.
The Sog has in total six separate salmon beats. Self-catering accommodation is price inclusive for some of the salmon beats. The accommodation is provided in comfortable lodges located beside the river. The lodges are provided with all major facilities, such as hot and cold water, electricity, heating systems, well equipped kitchens, double bedrooms, bathrooms with showers, dining and sitting rooms.
